The story behind this ring.....This ring is being passed down to me from my sister in law..."Sis". my whole wedding ring issue is a really long story. Here is the short version. Russ proposed with a 100.00 Walmart ring one day and within the next month we were unengaged (a whole other blog, PS: he was stupid ;)) so that ring got left in the ash tray of the Scion XB car that we traded in. Then when we got married and I got a solid band for like 50.00 obviously we never had money. I also though have never been really materialistic as much as I am meaningful. Items have to pack meaning behind them. I make Russ write in cards something besides "Love Russ" get the point? Ok then moving on, I had Dalton and after the baby weight my solid band didn't fit so Candie gave me a gorgeous ring that was given to her by a former boyfriend and no longer meant anything to her but it was definitely an upgrade and I loved it, it packed meaning.... Its all I have ever worn until now. Now this ring is being handed down to me..... only stipulation is if and when my niece Stacia whom is sisters daughter wants it, its hers. In my mind I just might be due for another upgrade, you have no idea what patience it takes being a wife to Russell. Just kidding he is the love and lover of my life and I am learning and experiencing the love of his family as well. I cant help it that I'm their favorite out of the 50 plus women he has brought home...LOL! I love you Sister. Thank you. I will be wearing this ring with tons of pride!
An added email that shows the history, just for my records...
No it isn't mom's first ring. The single band is from moms engagement ring. The jacket is mine from my marriage to Stacy. The main Diamond I bought for you and had it put in the set. The old Diamond I made a necklace out of. The jewler couldn't change the set on moms band without taking the entire mount off the band. The mount is pear shape and I wanted a round cut, it looked better on the cut in the bands but, What I wanted and what could be done was two different things and you know me I refused to settle. So basically the history is, Stacia is represented in the jacket and it was just wasting away in my jewerly box, the diamond is, I hope the size you wanted all total it is 1k and priceless and I don't mean CZ..lol
Sis, I hope you enjoy it. The entire set is put together from myself and mom. I am so full of joy to be passing it onto you.
ReplyDeleteGirl, Dwayne proposed to me with a hand-me-down ring and we bought a $100 diamond "dusted" band to go with it. I gained weight since having Will so I wear a two-toned antique wedding band passed down from my mother. As long as my finger does not get any fattter then that is what I am wearing! I am just so blessed to have the kind of love that most people can only dream of. We never had money before and don't have a fortune now but the ring means nothing to us. I just wear it so nobody thinks I'm a baby mamma! LOL! I'm glad you got the ring from your SIL. If some one passed one on to me then I would gladly accept it and wear it with pride :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I am so glad you have such a wonderful support system. My first wedding ring was from my mother-in-law... she had a ring that we melted down and used all the diamonds in it to create a design just for me! It was very special to me. Once my brother-in-law got engaged, we passed it along to him. He had it melted down and created another ring for his wife. What a fun tradition!
