Is is supposed to be as exciting as the first child? How would I know? I only have and am going to only have one. All procedures have been done to make sure of it. I am content with that, however my sister and I’s deliveries werent so “inviting” we both ended up having c-sections and when that occurs only your husband is aloud in the surgery room.
Anyhoots I never in my clear, yet sometimes crazy mind would have ever thought that I would witness a birth. I mean besides on the TLC channel , which in itself is pretty awesome.
It’s Sunday, about 1pm.
My phone rings, it’s Candie and after little talk you knew…..it was “time” to ROCK N ROLL!
I was actually patient, calm, cool and collected. To be honest a lot calmer than I anticipated. I sat mingling with friends that were over for a BBQ and just waited for Candie to call me again. I figured I would give time to check in, get epideral, relax yada yada…
My phone rings. The next words that came out of Candies mouth changed my HEART forever.
“Would you be ok taking photos during the birth?” (yes, that means I was in the room, DURING the birth of Kenley Rae)
“What?” “Um, YES!”
At that point I stood up, turned to my company and said “Peaceout Im gonna be a photographer.”
If you know me at all, then you know something about my friendship with Candie , you should then be able to realize to some extent, what this HONOR meant for me personally.
I arrived at the hospital and again waited patiently in the lobby until I was asked to come back. I totally had time to stop and get coffee :) (she said on the phone I didn’t, so I didn’t, but I totally had time!)
The laughter in the room was steady and hard. The labor was fast once she passed 7cm.
I cannot explain in words my expierence that occurred in that room at 6:57pm on Sunday May 30th, 2010.
It was truly a miracle…a moment in time that I will forever remember. Thank you Kurt and Candie for letting me in on such a fantastic beautiful expierence.
